A preacher who is under investigation by the IRS for supporting Mike Huckabee from the pulpit is praying for the deaths of Americans United for Separation of Church and State members. And sadly, this sort of extremism is getting more and more common within the Republican party as more and more of its sensible members leave, disgusted with what the party has become.
Here is the e-mail that he sent to his supporters:
In light of the recent attack from the enemies of God I ask the children of God to go into action with Imprecatory Prayer. Especially against Americans United for Separation of Church and State, and the ACLU as well as others who attack God's people. I made an attempt to go to them via Matt 18:15 but they refused to talk to me.
Specifically target Joe Conn or Jeremy Learing and their leader Rev. Barry Lynn. They are those who lead the attack. (You can see their press release attack at www.au.org )
Imprecatory prayer, is now our duty now that all efforts have been exhausted, we must begin our Imprecatory Prayer, at the key points of the parliamentary role in the earth where we live. John Calvin gave the church its marching orders from Scripture.
The righteous have dominion, but only through imprecatory prayer against the ungodly. David as our Old Testament shepherd gives us many Imprecatory prayers, and can be found to be in best focus in Psalm 109. Also chapters 55, 58, 68, 69, and 83. Pray these back to God and He will answer. Jesus in Matthew 23: 13, 15, 16, 23, 24, 27, and 29 gave us our New Testament marching orders as well.
Let us join Paul and declare anathema upon anyone" who loves not the Lord Jesus." I Cor 16:22
Church father Martin Luther, led us by saying..."If any of the enemies of God's people belong to God's election, the church's prayer against them giveth way to their conversion, and seeketh no more than that the judgment should follow them, only until they acknowledge their sin, turn, and seek God."
Please join us, with Bible in hand, and let us do battle against the enemies of God.
And sadly, this sort of hate is not that uncommon within the ranks of the Republican Party. As the Republicans get more and more extreme, we must treat them like the Fellowship of the Ring did with Saurman -- we must not let them get anywhere near the seats of power. Just like the Fellowship could not afford to let the Ring get anywhere near Saurman.
Like Barack Obama said, words matter. And he would know -- being of African descent himself, he would know as much as anyone the history of Rwanda -- how the genocide there was caused by massive hate radio. Think of Hannity, Limbaugh, Drake, and Rush on every single TV station, radio station, and news outlet screaming at people who they are supposed to hate. And I would submit another example -- the hate radio that dominated the airwaves of Serbia under the reign of Milosloveic.
And Drake is not a nobody; he is one of the most influential pastors of the Southern Baptist Convention:
Drake is a prominent pastor in the Southern Baptist Convention, the nation’s largest Protestant denomination. He recently completed a term as second vice president of the group, its third highest post. He currently is running for president of the denomination, which became increasingly political after a fundamentalist takeover in the 1980s.
Expect him to polarize the country even more if he were to get elected. America cannot afford the risk of people like this having access to the seats of power.
