Q: Why was Obama's victory speech tonight so long?
A: Because it takes time to go over just some of his brilliant solutions for America.
Barack Obama took the stage tonight with all the momentum in the Democratic Presidential Primary. He did so without a teleprompter, but with a brain full of solutions. Recently, he had come under attack, from both Republicans and his chief rival, Hillary Clinton, that he represented an "empty and eloquent call for change," and that this country needed "actions, not words." These were references to his ability to deliver a good speech, and the implication is that he's an "empty suit" that has no policies but just a good speechwriter.
Well, tonight Barack Obama answered those criticisms with words. A lot of words. He delivered a long speech that was heavy in policy positions and yet still kept the attention of 25,000 supporters in Houston, Texas and millions more watching on the cable news networks. In this speech, Obama went over his plans for this country's economy, education system, ethics in politics, foreign policy, and poverty, amongst other things. These weren't just words, they were plans. And they were excellent plans.
This speech was simply brilliant. He kept his nice suit on, but made sure it appeared nice and full. I humbly suggest that the next time a Clinton/McCain supporter tells you Obama is all words and no actions... it probably means they don't have the patience/intelligence to look these things up on their own on Obama's website. Given that, you can direct them to a video of this speech, instead. I'm sure they'll find his "long, boring speech" to be not only full of substance, but delivered with a quality that neither of the other candidates could dream to equal.
Now that Obama's proven his suit isn't empty and his brain is full of solutions, its your turn. Spread the word about his campaign, give your time to call voters in Ohio and Texas, and donate what you can to help those great ideas become a new direction for our great country.
