If this has been talked about, please let me know and I'll delete the diary.
Anyhow, I was just listening to the Thom Hartman program on Air America and he was discussing the Michelle Obama quote which has conservatives in an uproar and was trying to put her words into context. She supposedly said "For the first time in my adult life I am proud of my country."
But it appears the context was already there until it was edited out.
As Hartman was discussing this, a person called in and mentioned that the video had been edited. What she actually said was "For the first time in my adult life I am really proud of my country." Obviously, that one little word throws the quote in a completely different light.
Hartman played the clip over and you can hear the 'r' in 'really' just coming out and then there's a sudden break. When Hartman looked at the video he said he could clearly see Michelle Obama mouthing the word 'really'.
Supposedly the video in question comes from the Drudge report and is being passed around.
Sorry, I'm not so hot with the video links, but I'm sure someone else can find it, and feel free to post it in the comments.
I just wanted to get this out there in case it hasn't already been covered.
UPDATE: Hartman is now reporting that the original edit came from Fox News and/or the Drudge Report. As a latte guzzling East coast sandal wearing elitist, I can only say "Quelle surprise".
