According to MSNBC Bill Clinton said
"If she wins in Texas and Ohio, she'll be the nominee. If she doesn't, I don't think she can be. It's all on you."
. Found the quote
Think about that. It certainly sets the stage for defeat. The MSNBC newsperson has mentioned it several times and is drawing attention to his statement. But more on the flip
There was a very good diary yesterday by a Clinton supporter who was switching to Obama as they could see the writing on the wall but the diarist paid tribute to the Clintons. Many Obama supporters chimed it that it was a great diary. Lest we forget, the Clintons did a lot of good for the country and the economy was quite a bit better for more people.
This election is not about honoring their work and their time of public service. It is about winning elections and for better or worse, Hillary simply has an ongoing perception issue with thetoo many American voters. When a candidate goes above 40% in unfavorables it's difficult to win. Fairly or not (and I certainly think it's unfairly) her negatives have been in the 40's for 15 years.
Obama has captured votes, delegates and cross over voters. He has run a great campaign and is the stronger candidate in the general election. Every barrier thrown up in haste has been blasted thru..just like the football team entering the field. First, it was that he was too young, too inexperienced but his compusure, his sureness, and his life of service cut through that. People sensed a genuine person who did not flip flop all over the place.
Then it was that his campaign was too inexperienced and he couldn't organize nationwide in a year. Not enough time. He has one of the best organizations ever. Period. DOn;t rest but he has a disciplined staff.
Then it was that he couldn't raise the funds without PACS and special interests. He couldn't raisethe money to run nationwide. He wasn't a complete candidate. That line of attack is so laughable. 90% of OBama;s donations come from small donors, come online. It's amazing. I'd like to be on his fundraising staff (I'm qualified) because apparently all you do is count the money. People want to donate.
Then it was that he couldn;t win a caucus state (remember that line of attack) because people had to get to know you, you had to invest real personal time, you had to have depth and withstand questioning. We saw how that worked out.
Now, Bill Clinton, the attack dog is preparing the stage for giving way. That's the smartest move he's made in a while. This has the potential of being a watershed election of great meaning.
