Among the large chorus of sexist and biased journalist/pundits/media types, Jon Alter has shown his true colors in a piece in the Newsweek March 3 issue:

Withdrawing would be stupid if Hillary had a reasonable chance to win the nomination, but she doesn't.
Actually it is Jon Alter who is stupid (actually he is smart, but he is biased). There is no doubt that he is cheerleading for an Obama nomination, perhaps so that he can then trash Obama in the general election and help McCain get elected.
Below the fold are the reasons that the race will go on until at least late April.
Reasons why HRC will stay in the race for at least two more months.
- She has passionate support - still raising $1 million per day despite being written off by the media.
- She is hanging tough in national polls, head-to-head vs. Obama. The latest national tracking polls show a statistical dead heat between the two. Obama does not get over 50%.

Are these the numbers of a race that is over? Hardly not.
- She matches up as well as Obama in the latest national head-to-head match ups vs. McCain.

- Delegate math - Obama has only an 80 delegate lead (this is 2% of the total delegates to be awarded). Any delegate math has to weigh the impact of Florida and Michigan and the fact that neither candidate will have enough pledged delegates to win.
- There are misgivings about Obama reflected in his high negative ratings, which are as high as McCain's currently.

Nationwide, Obama is viewed favorably by 54% and unfavorably by 44%. McCain’s numbers are 54% favorable, 43% unfavorable.
The misgivings among core democrats include lack of experience, questionable fighting spirit, and concerns about electability.
- HRC and her supporters believe this is too important an election to let the media pick the candidate.
- The longer the race goes on the more scrutiny will fall on Obama and his weaknesses exposed.
Two more months to PA on 4/22 - this thing is long from over.
UPDATE: just released today's Rasmussen tracking poll shows no gain for Obama compared to 8 days ago:
http://rasmussenreports.com/...
Obama 45
Clinton 42
McCain now leads Obama 47% to 43% and Clinton 47% to 44%.
Today's Gallup shows a similar result.

Why is Obama not pulling away from HRC and has the momentum stopped cold. Why is Obama still well below 50%?
