McCain
McCain tried to play his Al Qiada joker this week, telling us that they where in Iraq, like we didn't already know.
It seems that McCain is dusting off the 2004 Bush playbook, banging on about staying the course and so on. Well either Hillary or Barack should remind everyone that over the last few years, Al Qaida have become a resurgent force, having regrouped within the Aghanistan/Pakistan border region, and spreading their jihad to North Africa.
The problem for McCain, he is still supporting the same failed policy, Iraqis are slow in there efforts for political reconciliation, military, all the surge has done, is enabled Bush to punt the ball into 09, so Hillary, Barack or John has to deal with it.
If McCain had any sense, he would work with Democrats to formulate a policy for Iraq, which has military, economic and political dimensions to it.In many ways, it could acts a blueprint to deal with terror groups in other states.
When you fight terrorists, the last thing you want to do is actual have to defend geography. Intelligence services work best in the shadows, that way, you keep the terrorist guessing, because they can't see you.
People keep saying McCain is formidable, he was in 2000, when he and the GOP where riding the Clinton surpluses, but now, the economic background will be tough. He has told us that the Clinton economy was unsustainable, then again like Huckabee he majored in miracles not maths. But even by my reckoning, Bill Clinton 22 million jobs, still beats George Bush's 8 million jobs by a country mile, plus Bush had to incur 3 trillion dollars of debt on top, whilst Bill Clinton paid down the debt and cut deficits.
Ignore the economy stupid is one thing, but if your hand is staying the course, the election will be over by September.
