Yes, this diary is yet another of my attempts to request that members of this community pay more attention to our soldiers who have made the ultimate sacrifice. I truly am confused. Right now, slipping rapidly off the recent diary list is HONORING THE FALLEN: US Military KIA, Iraq/Afghanistan written by jimstaro. As I write this diary, there are only 11 comments.
Please, someone explain to me why this diary and the IGTNT diaries often go generally unobserved until they are pimped in Open Thread or diaries such as this one? I always see the same faithful members of this community commenting and/or recommending and yet, there is a vast majority who have never stopped by.
Last night, in a pique, I actually asked why those who spend so much time smearing candidates can't just take a moment to honor our war dead. I was flabbergasted to receive this snotty reply from someone who has been on this site far longer than I have
Erm - What Does (0 / 0)
IGTNT stand for and why should I care?
Had the diarist/commenter actually bothered to click on the link I provided, perhaps she would know the answer. I was outraged at the cavalier response.
This diary probably warrants a negative response, and I am pretty thick-skinned since I was called out twice in a diary today which garnered more comments than any IGTNT diary I have read.
We have one common purpose here -- no matter whom we support -- we all want our men and woman to return home from war as soon as possible. Is it so unrealistic, naive, hopeful to ask for interest in the diaries which honor our dead? Help me out here.
About "I Got the News Today" (IGTNT)
I Got the News Today is a diary series intended to honor service members who have died as a result of the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan; its title is a reminder that almost every day a military family gets the terrible news about a loved one. Diaries about the fallen usually appear two days after their names are officially released, which allows time for the IGTNT team to find and tell their stories.
