Hillary Clinton appeared on Saturday Night Live tonight for an "Editorial Response" to a skit (which I unfortunately missed) that, once again, made fun of the "media bias" towards Obama. Clinton is also scheduled to appear on the Daily Show on Monday. It seems pretty clear that these appearances are meant to try and cut into one of Obama's best demographics: the youth vote.
Will it work? I have no idea, but I personally hope not. Hopefully Obama's rally in Rhode Island (to try and cut into probably Clinton's strongest state on Tuesday) won't hurt him in Texas. I know that he's going to OH after this, but does anyone know if he'll be back in Texas before Tuesday? While it would certainly be great if Obama could pull off Ohio, Texas seems the more likely right now, and if he doesn't end up winning the popular vote there (even if he wins the delegate count), Clinton will probably use it as an excuse to continue on despite the extreme improbability of her actually winning the nomination.
I like Clinton, but I hope she realizes what she's doing if she continues to drag this on past Tuesday, assuming she doesn't really make a big impact on delegates (which, frankly, is looking unlikely). If she does, well, I guess we're heading towards a cluster of a convention, and probably giving McCain a gift he really doesn't need. Wouldn't anyone else like to use our massive fundraising advantage that we have at least until August to, I dunno, actually start attacking McCain rather than each other?
In any case, I digress. Will these appearances help Clinton peel off some younger voters? Will Obama be able to cut more into Clinton's core support on Tuesday?
