Denton County, Texas, is just north of Dallas, mostly white and probably a Republican plus 12 county for years. Our 2006 Democratic Primary had just 1751 total voters. The local Democratic Party is broke. Giving a list of who voted Democratic to a candidate is less useful than inviting the candidate and few known voters to dinner.
Until now. This year we have 27,551 early Democratic voters in our data base.My guess is mostly Obama voters, but we shall see. By election day on Tuesday, perhaps we will have another 30,000. We hope.
We have several Obama workers assigned here, thankfully. They are wonderful young people working day and night. When they leave, they will give our local Democratic Party copies of their data base. All that work and effort donated to our future. The local Republicans are panicked by all this, of course. But, the Democratic Party is alive and well in Texas, and especially Denton County, Texas, thanks to Barack Obama. America is not lost after all.
