The leader of the despicable organization known as the FARC has been killed in battle. I posted the news on an open thread, and nobody seemed to care very much. However, Hugo Chavez is moblizing his army and sending it to the Colombian border. War looms.
A couple of days ago, I posted an interesting link. Raul Reyes, the head of the Revolutionary Armed Forces of Colombia (FARC in Spanish) was killed in battle with Columbian troops.
Started as a Marxist revolutionary group with Cuban aid (Che!) their lack of success in overthrowing the legitimate government, they veered off into more lucrative endeavors, namely kidnapping and drug dealing.
Now Hugo Chavez, the president of Venuzuela and big fan of Che! and Fidel Castro, has made some propaganda hay by getting some of the hostages released. Mostly people who are politically valuble. This made him look good, and when the head of the FARC was killed in battle with Colombian military.
While popular with Chavez and far lefties in the first world, the FARC isn't popular with Columbians in general. Just last month literally millions marched against it.
Reyes and his evil minions occupied some territory on both side of the Ecuadorian border, and the battle took place about 1.8km (one mile) inside Ecuadorean territory. The president of Equador protested, of course, but why was he letting these bastards camp out in his territory? It looks like the enemies of Democracy are going to try to snuff it out in Colombia in a major shooting war, in the defense of an international criminal they've been coddling for years.
Stay tuned.
