Going into this, we all knew that Texas was a two-part process. The mainstream media definitely knew this- they enjoyed throwing about the term "Texas Two-Step."
Well, the results are now becoming clear. Hillary won one of the two steps by a small margin. Obama won the other by a bigger margin. When it's all said and done, it appears that Obama has won Texas by at least three delegates. The Austin American Statesman sums it up: here.
I stress that caucus results are still coming in. They could change. My own projections, based on what I've read from other (reliable) sources, are that he will actually net more than a 3 delegate gain in Texas.
So my question is why is Texas being spun as a Hillary win? Will the MSM pick up this story and set the record straight? You can't pick and choose which part of the democratic process you will support. Yes, Texas has a messy process, but as Mark Penn himself said, to paraphrase, it's all about the delegates.
Will CNN's maps color Texas light blue or dark blue? If they are judging other states on the basis of delegate wins, then they should set the record straight. When the final caucus results are tallied, Obama will have won Texas.
Feel free to Rec this diary- I want it to be visible.
Update: Alot of people are making comments like 'The popular vote is more important.' That's just not reality, people. Yes, in an ideal (pure) democracy that would be true. We live in a representative democracy. Proof- we have a President right now who lost the popular vote! If we want to change the process, then first we need to win by the current rules. By the current rules, Obama won Texas.
