Throughout the election cycle I had no doubt that I would vote for a democrat no matter who it was. Over the past week or so, I have had a change of heart. I can no longer use my vote for president as a vote for SCOTUS. My vote for POTUS is just that, someone who I think can put this country on the right path to progressive values while maintaining integrity and rallying the majority of the country to sacrifice for the betterment of our nation. Unfortunately, I do not believe Hillary can motivate me to stop being a selfish American nor any of the people I know supporting her.
America must change the way we are perceived in the world. We have turned from one of the most respected countries to one that appears to be a self-centered, idelogical and imperialist nation in the minds of the world citizens. We need to change this perception for economic, security and democratic reasons. I believe that Hillary and McCain alike will have a much tougher time at convincing our allies and enemies that America is not what GWB has made us in the minds of the world.
This election is so much more important then a vote for SCOTUS and upholding progressive values. Its about taking America into the future, by motivating Americans to take back their country and empowering them to accomplish this. It's about changing the way we have approached foreign policy for decades and using future technology to make this world a safer place. This can only be done by getting a buy-in from the American people which will require motivation from the POTUS. I truly believe Hillary will have a much harder time getting the American people to believe that our sacrifice is for the greater good due to her lack of authenticity and transparency.
We need an energy revolution in this country and we can not wait any longer. We have taken the easy way out on energy for many decades and this needs to end NOW. From a security, environmental and economic standpoint, America needs to be the leader in Alternative energy if we are to bring jobs, moral highground and security to our country. This will require significant sacrifice by the American public and the president will need to be forthcoming despite the political consequences. I question whether or not Hillary would ever take political risk to accomlish such an overhaul in the American infrastructure and frankly believe McCain would more likely embark on something this radical then she would.
Both Hillary and McCain each want to give off the image of the superior military power of America and I am afraid each of them will react hastily to an uncertain event instead of seeking peace through diplomacy. I am not a pacifist, I just believe the military should be used in response to attack on our country or when all diplomatic efforts have failed. I have no faith that Hillary nor McCain will change their mindset that allowed the United States to get involved in a war that has hurt all aspects of American life, failed to provide us security, created more hatred of the US and has damaged our military capacity to defend ourself and our allies. Judgement from the president of the US has to be the #1 issue for voters to take into consideration, as faulty judgement can have consequences of epic proportion.
I am a 4th generation democrat who supported JE originally, yet lately I have gone to Obama's camp. The reason I will not vote for Hillary Clinton in the GE is because she is selfish and I frankly dont trust her. Her comments about John McCain having more experience then Obama was the final straw. By doing this, she basically gave the Rebublicans ammunition to use in a GE against one of our own. This is not what a true democrat does. She did this for politcal calculation in the hopes of ruining Obama now so she could win the nomination or to ruin his GE chances so she has a shot to run again in 2012. I have been able to overlook most of her surrogates and campaign comments to this point, but I will never forgive her for this comment. It will crush me more then you can ever imagine, but I can not vote for someone I don't trust or no longer respect. Hillary Clinton has done something I never thought was possible, turned me against a candidate from my own party.
