Update: I just got an e-mail from Bill Luckett, communications director for the Wyoming Democrats.
Actually, the caucuses are running much more smoothly today than we had feared. We learned some tricks from other states that ran into problems with being way overwhelmed with turnout. We are sitting around 13.4 percent turnout so far today, which has been unheard of in past years. In 2004, we had a statewide total of 675 people vote in our caucuses. We have already seen more than 10 times that so far today. From looking at the very few records we have of previous caucuses, and talking to former state party chairs, we don't have any evidence that we have ever reached even a 3 percent turnout at a Wyoming Democratic presidential caucus, so we are just ecstatic at the amount of enthusiasm our party has this year. As for the overwhelming crowds ... it's an historic day for the Wyoming Democratic Party when our biggest problem is that too many people want to be involved!
