the Eliot Spitzer mess has nothing to do with the 2008 Democratic Primary for President. Nothing.
Let me say that again...
What Eliot Spitzer may have done or didn't do, who he may have done it with, and who else may been involved, have nothing to do with the 2008 Democratic primary for President.
I realize some may be jumping for glee at the prospect of guilt by association with Spitzer's problems and linking them to the Clinton campaign all because they both hail from New York.
DON'T...EVEN...THINK...IT.
Unless you find some hard evidence, unless you know exactly what went on, you don't know a thing.
And Obama fans, don't get to crazy. Just because Spitzer is a Clinton supporter that hails from New York, what he did or didn't do has absolutely no bearing on Sen. Clinton unless there is hard and fast proof that the link exists.
Unless you like guilt by association, you might as well ask the same questions with respect to Barack Obama and his relationship to Rod Blagojevich (who's got a few problems of his own right now...) It's the exact same thing, and unworthy of even a hint of a mention.
It falls under conspiracy theory, and I hope this blog takes a hard line on such junk.
So stop the talk about Spitzer being a superdelegate for Hillary, what the Clintons might have known, and all that other junk.
UPDATE: For those who keep saying, But, but, it DOES affect the superdelegates...check again. Lt. Governor David Paterson, who would take Spitzer's seat should he resign, ALREADY...ENDORSED...HILLARY. No loss of a superdelegate for Senator Clinton. So stop saying that it is. (Note: I Stand Corrected. Paterson is also a DNC member and already a superdelegate. Seriously, though, what odds do you give that they will replace Spitzer's slot with yet another Hillary supporter? Pretty good odds, I think...)
Because you sound a lot like Fox News when you do. Or worse.
UPDATE II: For those wondering what I am talking about, wade through some of the comments in this front page diary. You'll see what I mean right quick.
