The Washington Post reports:
The Environmental Protection Agency has decided to lower the allowable amount of smog-forming ozone in the air to 75 parts per billion, a level significantly higher than what the agency's scientific advisers urged for this key component of unhealthy air pollution, according to documents obtained by The Washington Post.
According to the article, this comes extremely close to meeting the demands of industries, and no where near what would be a healthy or environmentally sound level.
This is evidence, once again, that the Bush White House is unconcerned with both science and health. I had hope (i know, without foundation) that Bush would move a little on the environment this year-- it seemed briefly like he might.
This EPA is already battling attempts by the states to control their own air (so much for Republicans as the party of state's rights)--
more proof that we need a Democratic administration this fall!!
