Albuquerque businessman, entrepreneur, and community activist Michael Padilla entered the race for State Senator in District 11. "It is more important than ever that State Senate District 11 has a hard working and experienced leader that gets things done," said Michael Padilla, a thirty-five year old life-long democrat. "Our district needs a leader willing to fully commit the time, energy and courage to make sure we are well represented in the state legislature."
Padilla went on to add, "I will provide solid leadership that can stay ahead of public safety trends, economic changes, educational requirements, environmental impacts, and desperately needed infrastructure enhancements."
Padilla concluded by saying "Our families in Westgate, the South Valley, and Los Padillas have been paying taxes for over 100 years, and we have been forgotten and ignored, I will stop this immediately and make sure we get our fair share."
State Senate District 11 is located on Albuquerque’s west side, stretching from west Central Avenue south to Los Padillas Road deep in the heart of the South Valley. Michael Padilla’s family helped settle what is now known as Los Padillas almost one hundred years ago. He is the grandson of Rafael and Demesia Padilla, Severo and Manuelita Padilla, Ralph and Lucy Padilla, and is the son of David and Gina Padilla, both deceased. He has two twelve year old sons named Aaron and Zachary Padilla. His three sisters are Valerie, Gail, and Irene. His brother Anthony passed away in 1990.

Michael is solidly focused on these seven major bread and butter issues facing all New Mexicans:
Safety and Security: Staffing for our Police, Sherriff, and Emergency Response Services is on top of my agenda. Safety and security is my number one priority.
Healthcare: Expanded coverage and doing everything we can to keep the best Doctors and Nurses in New Mexico can help us have longer and healthier lives.
Education and our youth: We need to support our teachers every step of the way. I support a minimum salary of $40,000.00 for all teachers, a minimum $25,000 salary for educational assistants and all other support staff, school funding equalization, and a per child school supply budget to help working families.
Veterans: Our veterans have sacrificed their lives for everyone of us. We need to be prepared for the veterans that are coming home from the wars we are fighting right now, we need to expand health clinics for veterans across the state, and we need to ensure that Personally Operated Vehicle programs remain in place and are fully funded.
Jobs and economic development: Building a successful company will help me work with business and industry to bring home high paying jobs that have the best benefits. Creating jobs in our neighborhoods will give working families back over 300 hours of their lives per year so that they can raise their families, instead of sitting in a car like they do today.
Water, air quality, and basic services: Clean water, modern sewer systems, and other basic services need immediate attention by our government leaders.
Streets, Traffic, and Sidewalks: Our streets must be safe, have sidewalks, be well lit, and be designed, developed, and built to reduce traffic delays.
