So my non-blogging friends would ask me why I go to blogs to get my news. One of my reasons, I would say, is we have a built in system of accountability for the information contained in it, especially at Dkos. Just post something that is wrong and people will surely jump all over you in the comments. It's part of the culture; if you see something false, inaccurate, misleading, leave a comment and say so.
But something is changing here, and it's becoming more noticable everyday.
I now find myself wrapped up in a culture at Dkos where it's not OK to write anything negative about Obama; nor anything positive about Clinton.
I am inherenty a contrarian (it's the Libra in me); so I have this insatiable need to voice the voiceless; to balance the debate; to point out the other viewpoint from whatever is being discussed.
But that is not happening much anymore on Dkos. It's complaining about Clinton's tactics; it's praising Obama's new strategy or victory. But dissent has been quashed to a few isolated posts that are either pounced on with attacks or just ignored.
With all this talk about boycott, i just noticed that I am not writing what I really want to write anymore on Dkos. I am feeling estranged and censured from this community. And, frankly, it's a bit scary for me because I have really come to rely on this community for my daily .... Kos. You know... My daily fix.
But I ain't getting the juice like used to. Is this just a community of Obama supporters? We are alienating anyone who is not on Obama' team and it really sucks for Dkos and the community here.
How many people and talented writers have to leave here before we "get it" that something is wrong here; that we are losing something; that something is changing that might not be repairable "after the primary?"
Just sayin'
