Uh-oh! I uttered the dreaded words. These parts (and practically all) of the internet are dangerously Obama. Now, hope is no folly, of course not. And Barack Obama, as Bill Cunningham so intelligently commented is no "hack politician." He has integrity. But what I don't get, is the hype. The guy has a dynamite voice. But come on, sure, the Clinton's cynical approach to politics isn't appealing. But Barack Obama who paves his way as a "bridge builder" and a different politician, is really not that different. So, my opinions will win few (if any) over. But this is my say.
Barack Obama, a different politician? Sure, no negative campaign ads, but he uses every old-school trick in the book. All the idealistic griping about Hillary Clinton's "old-school" politicing is "ticking" me off. Old-School is the only school today. Barack Obama will not get past the republican party without rough politics. John McCain can come out and say "Obama's mentor is a lunatic, and he is the most liberal senator in the senate." Election lost. So, what is Obama, a kindred spirit to our wonderful vivid political dreams? No, just a politician, a damn good one, but just another false idol. He uses tactics, his campaign blows up Clinton remarks to sound racist and make him seem like a veritable angle. The Ferraro incident, and of course our now infamous MLK remark.
The racism card, no doubt has proven results. The African American splits are incredibly lopsided. But is it a politically correect card to play if you fancy yourself the deity of change and hope? Now, Barack Obama plays another game well, a game children play. The innocent look... Ahhh... Well. It comes down to electability, and Barack Obama will become so unelectable the press will step away. Why? Republican politics and the "mentor" incident. Yes, the man who baptised Barack Obama's kid said "God damn America." I don't care, but that person in say... California or Georgia, who is religious, will take that the wrong way.
Finally, what card will John McCain play? Well two actually. Look at his voting record. Ted Kennedy, in all his glory, is not that liberal. It is hard to face for me, but independents and older voters are scared of liberals. Especially in swing states. So ladies and gentelman, I will get tarred, and feathered. But what is a candidate? Someone who comes out and says what they are. Change you can stifle on? More like a hack and a cough. And a dishonest politician. Barack Obama. American politics is a game to play, and it cannot be played with lies.
