I love this place. I know, I know, it's like a family reunion where there's bickering and partisanship, name-calling and feuds galore. But at the end of the day, I feel very much engaged in the Public Commons and appreciate everyone who contributes.
I just wish there weren't so many diaries about candidates!! I care, but I'm NUMB from the sheer volume!!!!
What worries me more is the Constitution... and how quickly it's slipping into a coma.
We must keep alive the stories that pertain to blatant and pernicious violations of Constitutional Law. These include contempt citations against Joshua Bolten and Harriet Miers, the Don Siegelman case, presidential signing statements, and much, much more. If you want to give the breath of life back to the document that makes this nation great, check out my quick and dirty list below.
People, I'm not much of a writer. I'm just feeling really passionate about some of these issues. Many articulate and patient individuals have written exemplary diaries on Kos, and I urge you to do a quick search for each topic and read your fill.
1. KEEP DON SIEGELMAN ALIVE!
Every single day there ought to be a diary about his case, which outlines the abuse of power by public officials. What is the status of an investigation at the Judiciary Committee? Can anyone comment? I've emailed my congresspeople and received no reply. I emailed Nancy Pelosi at her Speaker email address, and the email bounced. I wrote 60 Minutes asking for a followup. I emailed this to Patrick Leahy:
Dear Senator Leahy:
I read on dailykos.com that there is an allegation that Mr. Siegelman is being subjected to pysical abuse while in prison. I'm really concerned about this whole Siegelman case, and I'm wondering what the status is, and whether there's a plan for an investigation? Can you send me a quick email summary by a staffer so I can pass it along to the good readers at Daily Kos?
I also took to heart Don's own comment to a friend, diaried here: ALL ROADS LEAD TO ROVE.

Read your DailyKos about his case and get angry!!! REVIVE THE RULE OF LAW! http://www.dailykos.com/...
2.CONTEMPT CITATIONS AGAINST HARRIETT MIERS AND JOSHUA BOLTEN
I understand the "internal logic" of the White House's stand against allowing these people to testify before Congress about the possible political motivation behind US Attorney firings. I really get it. But if I accept their logic as being correct, and Congress is unwilling to summon the courage to invoke -- or even threaten -- inherent contempt, THEN THE CONSTITUTION IS DEAD and all of Congress's power with it. This is supposed to be a nation of laws. Enforce the law, Congress!! Fer cryin out loud! I SAID FER CRYIN OUT LOUD!!! http://www.dailykos.com/...
3.ALBERTO GONZALES WORE A FLAG PIN WHILE SHREDDING THE CONSTITUTION
It's time for an investigation into his actions as the alleged ATTORNEY of the PEOPLE of the UNITED STATES. There's lots of good stuff here on Kos! http://www.dailykos.com/...
4. PRESIDENTIAL SIGNING STATEMENTS
Presidential Signing Statements under King Bush are an execrable abuse of executive power, and a brutal slap in the face of Congress and the American People, the separation of powers, checks and balances, and the history of a great nation. What is Congress going to do about it?!! Hello???
