Yesterday, Markos noted that the British Minister of Defense is now blocking Daily Kos. On the same day that he made this note, this website was also blocked for the first time in my own workplace (which is not the British Defense Ministry).
Obviously, I can't speak for what is going on in Britain, but in the case of my workplace, the culprit seems to be these people:
Secure Computing "Smart Filter"
Entering dailykos.com at their website leads to several descriptions of Daily Kos, including this one: "Politics/Opinion, Personal Pages, Profanity". While there are some folks who make somewhat injudicious use of profanity in their comments and diaries, I don't have the sense that the level of profanity is particulary high here for a political blog. I have challenged this description of Daily Kos on Secure Computing's website, suggesting that the "profanity" portion of the description is not accurate.
Now, what I'm wondering is whether my experience is isolated, or if other people here have very recently seen Daily Kos blocked at their workplace. If so, please post when it happened -- and whether you've complained to either your own company or to whatever company happens to handle the filtering for your employer. Also, if you know who is doing the filtering for your employer (Secure Computing or one of their competitors), please share that information. No need to post who you work for, however.
