Brilliant move by the Obama campaign this morning. Bucks County Congressman Patrick Murphy set him up to call in to WIP-AM, Philly Sports Radio.

I'm from Philly, so I know a little about this. WIP's morning show with Angelo Cataldi is wildly popular. And it has pull. MAJOR pull.
Maybe you've heard of a little thing called "Wing Bowl?"
OK, maybe not.
But Wing Bowl is the brain child of the morning show. Basically, before the Super Bowl, they hold a wing eating contest. At 6:15am. The event is so huge that it fills the Wachovia Center with 20,000 people, with most of them sleeping out to get into the event. That's right. This show convinces 20,000 people to sleep outside, in winter, to watch a chicken wing eating contest at 6:30 in the morning.
That's pull. So much so, that Governor Ed Rendell, Senator Arlen Specter, and others make it a point to call in there regularly.
Anyway, Cataldi and his crew were raving about Obama for two hours after his interview was done. Guys were calling in saying they didn't know who they were going to vote for, until Obama called in, and that cinched it for them. Cataldi was saying he's going to do everything to elect him, and was getting his tux ready for the inaugural ball.
If the polls start to look up for Obama, some might point to "the speech." Me, I'm gonna point to WIP.
And, as long as we're talking about Philly, allow me to shamelessly plug my op-ed in the Philly Daily News yesterday, which takes a pretty harsh look at the effects of a drawn out primary.
UPDATE: Someone has pointed out that Taylor Marsh and Fox have picked out three words in the interview, that his grandmother is a "typical white person" as "proof" that he's, well, whatever. I encourage whether you support Hillary or Obama to push back on that craziness. You read the quote (in the thread below) and he says that his grandmother had no racial animosity at all, ergo, typical white people aren't racists either. BUT, that sometimes things ingrained in her came out in a wrong way. All white people have done that once in their life, or more, including myself. I'm ashamed of it, but it's true. OH AND BY THE WAY, BARACK OBAMA IS HALF WHITE AND RAISED BY A WHITE FAMILY.
UPDATE II - Howard Eskin, Angelo's rival at the station who never agrees with him, and backs Hillary, is trying to make an issue with the above. You'll be happy to hear that calls are against him by about 95 percent. I listened to about 90 minutes, and in that time, one woman from Jersey agreed with Eskin, and one Republican. The rest, all men, said Eskin was wrong. And, lest anyone think they were putting people on who disagreed with him, to get a good debate going, I called in and didn't say whether I agreed with him or not, and got on. So, anyone who was worried, take heart. White Philadelphians are much smarter than the conventional wisdom says we are.
