After
After yesterday's post, where from a personal perspective, i called for Obama to withdraw from the nomination process, purely because a protracted campaign, will damage the party and chances of getting a democrat in the White House.
First of all I am Obama supporter, have been for sometime, and until yesterday, any abuse came from Hillary Clinton supporters, but that all changed.
Some of the abusive words, left as comments, are all out of the political lexicon of 2008, like TROLL and COWARD. People on here may think that profanity, might be a form of political debate, but i don't because its not something to be proud of.
One thing i've always believed in, is being straight with people. If i honestly, thought, hand on heart, Hillary Clinton would back down, and withdraw from the campaign, i would wholeheartly support Obama.
A few days ago, one diarist wrote, that Clinton would quit within the next two weeks, and to be honest, its not going to happen, regardless of the primary results, whether it be PA or Puerto Rico, she will keep going to Denver, full stop.
If that is how its going to be, i do not see any alternative, because all we are doing is giving McCain a free ride for the next few months.
On top of that, the level of poisoned poltical debate, which increases every day, whether it is on Dkos or in the country, does not bode well for the party in the long term, we are literally at each other throats.
One diary, which i think is beneath contempt, is one that describes Al Gore as a coward, because he hasn't supported Obama. Have you ever heard something so contemptable?
Al Gore set a precedent that Obama should follow. The then Vice President withdraw from the Presidential Race, because he knew deep down, to fight on would have been bad for the party and the country, and he was correct.
Barack Obama can easily look back at the campaign, and be satisified with a jobwell done, he tried his best, and thats all he can do. To me, and so many other people, he will be a source of inspiration and idealism, for decades to come.
