This is not a candidate diary. Oh, I may mention the stalwart courage of Senator Hillary Clinton a time or two. And I will most certainly take some cheap shots at her detractors - those vile Hillary-hating Obamabots - but this diary is not about either of the presidential candidates. This diary is about the bravest little girl in the world. Grab a box of tissues (with aloe, because trust me - this story is a tear-jerker), and follow me after the fold.
Flipping through one of the internets, I came across the delusional rantings of one Michael Dobbs, writing for the Washington Post's blog named The "Fact" Checker.
http://blog.washingtonpost.com/...
For those without the stomach to read through his cyber-slander, I'll sum it up for you. Micahel Dobbs seems to be insinuating that Hillary Clinton, whom all level-headed people know as a bastion of truth, lied - yes, LIED - about her trip to the heavily-fortified Tuzla military airport in Bosnia, when she said the following:
"I remember landing under sniper fire. There was supposed to be some kind of a greeting ceremony at the airport, but instead we just ran with our heads down to get into the vehicles to get to our base."
--Hillary Clinton, speech at George Washington University, March 17, 2008.
To back up his crack-pot assertions of prevarication, Dobbs posts a picture of the greeting ceremony along with "sources", such as someone named "Sinbad" and Cheryl "Crow", and CBS "News Footage", and "Major General" William Nash, and "staunch Hillary supporter Togo" West, and "nearly 100 news accounts".
But I immediately saw through Dobbs' lies - and I saw a different story in all of this. You see, Senator Clinton's quote didn't imply that they had canceled the greeting ceremony - in fact, it should be clear from her words that they had moved it from inside the airport to out on the open tarmac. Why? Because this shrewd woman of the world knew that that's EXACTLY what the snipers wouldn't expect them to do. Once realizing this is the case, we see another story emerge. We see the story of a brave, brave, little child, standing out on that runway, with 7.62 mm sniper rounds biting into the tarmac all around her, reading her poem of peace with a smile on her face.
When someone like Micahel Dobbs accuses Hillary, I can suffer that in silence. After all she is a fighter and she can withstand much more that this with only a minimum of whining, provided you don't keep asking her the first question (because that is SO UNFAIR). But when Dobbs points his Pinocchio noses at the BRAVEST LITTLE GIRL WHO EVER LIVED, well, I have no choice but to cry foul.
So all you Obamatron-o-maniacs can have all of your lying "facts", and your checking of these "facts", and your "sources", and your "Sinbads", and your "snipers", and you can add an army of pirates and ninjas and even massive war elephants swinging giant swords in their trunks. Because this brave little girl, this Moslem Cindy Lou Who, will stop you all in your tracks and melt your blackened hearts with a poem of peace.
I leave you now with little Emina's parting words of courage to Mrs. Clinton:
"There is peace now," Emina told Clinton, "because Mr. Clinton signed it. All this peace. I love it. What the... is someone SHOOTING at us?!? RUN, you $&%#ing morons!!!"
