After listening to weeks of "I'd rather vote for McCain than Obama/Clinton" and "If Clinton/Obama wins the nomination I'll stay home this November" I think it's time we all put an end to this nonsense.
This is not about one candidate or another.
This isn't even about the Democratic party.
This is about the United States of America, and how we're going to work together to get it out of the messes the Bush Administration has left it in.
I don't need to repeat here all the reasons why a McCain Presidency would be a third Bush term. That's a given.
So why would you subject the country to all that just because your "perfect candidate" didn't get nominated?
Friend, let me tell you a hard truth: there are no perfect candidates. They're all human, they all put their pants on one leg at a time, and they all squat when they go to the bathroom.
Here in Philadelphia, there's a famous "sculpture" of a giant clothespin: Claes Oldenburg's "Clothespin"
I personally support Barack Obama. But if Hillary Clinton is the nominee, I pledge here and now that I will vote for her, even if I feel the need to put that clothespin over my nose before going into the voting booth.
Because no matter how much I dislike her politics, and distrust the people like Mark Penn that surround her, I know that the stench of four years of President John McCain would make the whole world sick.
