John McCain has it both ways.
He can be all bluster and so-called warrior, I don't need the Secret Service!
Then they make him take it!
So he has it both ways.
Just like with the "maverick" reputation that he doesn't deserve.
Just today, I was explaining to someone that he would make a big fuss about not going along with the Republicans on something, make speeches... and then quietly vote for it anyway.
No one reports otherwise.
Have we, by a process of evolutionary forces, created a press corp that likes being pwned?
To the Flipmobile!
For anyone not familiar with the term, "pwned" is the act of hacking in & controlling a system, and it comes from gaming, where the total humiliation of the opponent has been achieved.
Which is where the press is regarding McCain.
Do they not realize he is putting things over on them?
Do they not care, because they get access & free BBQ?
Do they not know that he must regard them with utter contempt?
As with so many things Republican, the high school metaphor is sturdy and reliable. Remember those girls who were so desperate for popularity and acceptance that they would hang around the "cool kidz" even though they were usually humiliated and set up?
Yeah. Like that.
Usually, the victim would handle what they knew was the truth, as long as no one else knew. Once their "secret" was out, the game was over, and the victim would drop out. There was always fresh meat around to get sucked in.
We need to let the press know their secret is out.
We know they are ignoring obvious problems.
We know they are too timid to print the truth.
We know they are being played for suckers.
It's easy to hide from ourselves. That's what half our brains are for. We are not "rational" beings. We are "rationalization" beings.
No matter what is going on in Reality, our little world can be maintained if it is only our thoughts which must be controlled.
However...
If we relentlessly hammer away at how gullible the press is, how easily they avoid facts, how blatantly they are sucking up...
If we make fun of them...
We can have the whole high school laughing at them.
I think that is something they can't handle.
