Hillary, we have to talk.
Hillary, I get that you have very legitimate reasons to run for president. You are a very intelligent, capable, and qualified woman. In your own right, you could've pushed the glass ceiling higher than anyone before you. But, instead, you gave up your personal ambitions for over twenty years for your husband. He needed to be elected to state and federal office, and you stood with him every step of the way. Then, at the height of his presidency, he cheated on you. I get that you are and were angry. All of this is enough to make anyone as intelligent and ambitious as you to feel as though you were owed something by this world, and, in most years, I might agree.
But, Hillary, we've got a problem.
Hillary, we've found someone extraordinary.
I saw both you and Senator Obama speak last night in Grand Forks, and, Senator, he's got you beat. You spoke a mere two hours after he did, and at least a full third of the crowd had already left. His supporters are more passionate, and they are more numerous. His message is broader and more uplifting. You work within the confines of the current political discourse; he completely changes the rules of the game in our favor.
The fact is, we need an Obama.
We need someone who doesn't have to parse his answers about voting for the Iraq War in complex nuances that would make John Kerry's head spin.
We need someone who won't intentionally divide us on social, political, racial, economic, ethnic, or religious lines.
We need someone who adheres to a 50-state strategy, building party infrastructure nationwide, instead of only paying attention to Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Florida once every four years.
And we need someone who not only will unite us as a people, but who has the policies and principles that will return America to a position of strength and austerity in the world.
Hillary, he's got you beat, plain and simple.
And, Hillary, we've got another problem.
You know you're losing, and you're getting desperate.
You said he couldn't win, despite the fact that he won more states, more delegates, and more votes than you, and that he's been polled stronger than you against McCain nationally.
You've been saying things that only reinforce Republican talking points.
And, sadly, you're saying things that are simply not true. Remember that story you told me last night about the uninsured pregnant woman? It was the highlight of your speech. It was touching, and it warmed me up to you a little bit. But, as it turns out, it wasn't true.

Hillary, you've raised millions and millions of dollars in this campaign; you couldn't have someone check your facts for you?
And what about that sniper fire in Bosnia story? What on earth was up with that? If what you've been saying about your experience is true, you should have plenty of stories to tell that are 100% true.
You have hit him with everything you had, and he's still beating you. You thought the campaign was a coronation, and he beat you in Iowa. You smeared his pastor, and Obama came back stronger than ever. You said he wasn't experienced enough, and he's still beating you by ten points in national polls. The question I have for you is this: how long after you run out of bullets do you keep trying to shoot?
Hillary, I understand that you feel that this is owed to you. But this election is not about you. It's about who we want to lead us past the divisions of the past into the promise of the future. It's clear that we as Democrats and as Americans want Barack Obama to be the next President of the United States. It's time to realize that fact and bring your campaign to a respectful and clean end.
