Matthews's contract expires next year, and NBC officials clearly would like to renew it for considerably less than the $5 million a year he is making now.
Cmon babay! ditch the tweet!
A number of people I spoke with at NBC said that Russert can be disdainful of Matthews, whose act he often sees as clownish. They also told me that Russert believes Matthews is something of a loose cannon who brings him undue headaches in his capacity as NBC's Washing-ton bureau chief.
Matthews is a gorilla hopped up on meth throwing his feces on every wall of NBC. And his ratings suck while doing it.
"I have a lot of options," Matthews told me. "I'm a free man starting next June." There has been long-running speculation that Matthews could be a candidate to replace Bob Schieffer, whenever he retires, as the host of CBS's Sunday morning show "Face the Nation."
He seems resigned to his fate, Gregory is going into his slot and he knows it.
Face the nation. LOL
This leaves an empty time slot, a time slot that I think Msnbc is already looking into.
These cable programmers need a push. They need to know that there would be support for Maddow should she get the nod. It makes their decision easier when they know someone has a built in fan base -- making the jump for her less of a risk.
When the opportunity presents itself, always support your local Maddow. More progressives on teh tubez!
