Elite
With all the talk last week, and the synchorised attacks on Obama, it got me thinking about a theme that was prevalent in the West Wing.
Barack, bless him, isn't married to a wealthy heiress, he's also not married to a former President. Also, he doesn't belong to any political dynasty.
I regard the attack on Barack, as an attack on his intelligence, as far as I am concerned he is smart, and has a grasp on life in general.
In the West Wing, President Bartlett was attacked because of his intelligence, he was a fictional winner of a Nobel Prize for economics. His team where always worried about the percieved bias of the voters, who regarded him as elitist and aloof.
If you want to talk about elitism, President Bush is a classic example, attended an ivy league college, purely because of his surname, also a Reagan diary entry, chronicled the day when then Vice President Bush, dragged in tow, his good for nothing son, inorder to gain employment.
Elitism to me is cronyism, when the spouses and children of elected official find employment due to the network of donors and access to instuitions.
