Today a new poll from MediaCurves has solid proof that Barack Obama actually stands to Gain Ground over this whole bitter-gate flap and actually innoculate himself against the Charge of Elitism, which seems to be John "Ahi Tuna" McCain's future General Election Strategy.
A new national study among 843 self-reported Democrats, Republicans and independents, indicated that Senator Obama’s explanation for his recent controversial remarks, successfully addressed criticism, especially among Democrats and independents.
The study was conducted by HCD Research earlier today to obtain Americans’ perceptions of video segments from Senator Obama’s speech in Indiana yesterday, in which he addressed controversial comments that he made during a fundraiser in San Francisco on April 6.
Key Findings:
Do you think Barack Obama’s comments were elitist or out of touch, as his critics have claimed?
Before Viewing Video
| Dem. | GOP | Indy |
---|
YES | 32% | 57% | 27% |
NO | 41% | 20% | 40% |
NOT SURE | 27% | 23% | 33% |
AFTER Viewing Video
| Dem. | GOP | Indy |
---|
YES | 26% | 47% | 29% |
NO | 62% | 41% | 58% |
NOT SURE | 13% | 11% | 13% |
A Shift of 27% among Democrats
A Shift of 31% among Republicans (Sean Hannity, I'm looking at you monkey-boy)
A Shift of 16% among Independents
Do you agree with Senator Obama’s comments regarding working class voters in states like Pennsylvania?
| Dem. | GOP | Indy |
---|
YES | 64% | 38% | 56% |
NO | 22% | 46% | 29% |
NOT SURE | 14% | 16% | 15% |
If You'll notice carefully, the Numbers of People who Agree with Obama's Assessment Mirror the Number of People who believe that Obama is Not Elitist... within 3% on all three demographics. This is the definition of a winning issue.
There is a reason the Polls are unmoved. The people of PA need to hear Barack's Explanation and not the Media Distortion.
Tomorrow night, at the Debate, if Barack is able to Eloquently provide explanation for his comments, then surely, the numbers of PA may change, backlash may ensue, and Barack may, just may, close that PA gap afterall.
These numbers should instill fear in the hearts of the Clintons. With a commercial running now, they've really turned up the volume on this situation.

Barack, hit this tone tomorrow :) and bring up the Ahi-Tuna and Passion Fruit Mousse, PLEASE
UPDATE: NEW LA Times Poll is now Out
Pennsylvania: Clinton 46%, Obama 41%, Undecided 12%
Indiana: Obama 40%, Clinton 35%, Undecided 19%
North Carolina: Obama 47%, Clinton 34%, Undecided 17% (With Blacks at 71O, 5C, 24Undec)
The telephone interviews took place Thursday through Monday, meaning the bulk were conducted just as controversy broke out over an Obama remark widely criticized as demeaning rural voters in Pennsylvania.
One reason Clinton is struggling in Indiana and North Carolina is that a mainstay of her coalition in earlier contests -- women -- have been defecting. In Indiana, the poll found women split their vote, 35% for each candidate. In North Carolina, they favored Obama, 43% to 36%.
Looking ahead to the general election, many Democrats -- including some Clinton backers -- appear to have concluded that Obama might be in a better position to defeat McCain. In Indiana, for instance, 37% said they thought Obama would fare better against McCain in November, compared to 18% who said Clinton was more likely to beat the Republican.
SUSA is beingt to seriously be challenged. They're out there with PA and IN showing Obama losing under 35 and major cities, acting like ARG or something... the Gold Standard will either be worth it's weight or conversely, seered as Cindy's Ahi-Tuna and Nappa Cabbage Slaw (ya'll we need to push that story)
UPDATE II:
It was one of those typical questions from a reporter gaggle on Capitol Hill: Does Harry Reid think the protracted nomination fight between Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton will harm the party?
Reid didn't miss a beat.
"It makes me bitter," he deadpanned.
Update III:
wow! Did he just say "UPPIDY"???? Daily Kos.. Impacting the Debate in the real world?
UPDATE IV: I'm Speechless... he may win PA yet.
