I'm probably spending too much time in and around cesspools of lies and pathetic and talentless hacks, but I'm getting really damn tired of seeing the phrase "Chicago politics" used as an attack against Obama.
It's funny how often Clinton supporters say that Obama supporters "need" them and shouldn't burn bridges, and yet they casually label one of the biggest cities in America as politically bankrupt.
Well, as a Chicagoan, it's starting to piss me off.
The phrase that's probably most often associated with political corruption is "vote early, vote often." The saying relates to the election immediately following the Great Chicago Fire. We've all probably heard the story about the cow kicking over a lantern and starting the fire, a story which turned out to be completely fabricated.
In any event, the "voting early and often" part comes from political parties using the fire--more specifically, the mismanagement of fighting it--as a political "gotcha" and spread and atmosphere of fear and misinformation to the voters, causing people to vote improperly.
Sort of like how an atmosphere of fear and misinformation caused Clinton to vote for the war.
Obviously, it would be difficult to talk about Chicago politics without mentioning the Political Machine that is the Daley family. This machine operated to keep certain people in power and to beat back challengers that would shake things up, would cause change in the routine.
Sort of how Clinton's beltway buddies have been behaving towards Obama.
So yeah. Apparently, Chicago politics is bad and evil.
Chicago politics which, by the way, have created one of the more powerful and enduring Democratic strongholds in the country and given us many excellent politicians and representatives.
Chicago politics which, by the way, were instrumental in electing President John F. Kennedy, one of our most celebrated presidents.
But none of that matters to certain idiots who also call themselves Clinton supporters.
"Ooh! Evil Chicago politics!"
They should take a freakin look at CLINTON'S politics.
Take a peek at how she accuses Obama and others of being sexists with her "boys club" comments.
Take a gander at her vote for war, a vote which helped no one except George W. Bush.
Take a look at how she's willing to sunder the Democratic party, to weaken our likely candidate, to attack and smear and do whatever it takes to destroy Barack Obama, all for a nomination that was supposedly "inevitable."
That's something to be ashamed of, and I'll take Chicago politics over Clinton's scorched-earth bullshit any day of the week.
