This diary will be relatively brief because it's a very straightforward item. It's almost primary day here in the Fifth District and another organization is making it known that Rick Vilello is the man they want down in Washington, D.C. fighting for them. Follow me below the fold to hear all about it.
We just received word that Rick has been endorsed by UA Local 520 Plumbers and Pipefitters Union. Headquartered in Harrisburg, Local 520 represents working people in 23 central Pennsylvania counties. Some of the companies they do work for on a regular basis include CVS, Wegmans, and my alma mater, Penn State.
Local 520 is not the only labor organization to endorse Rick either. We are also proud to have the endorsement of AFSCME Local 2360 (Lock Haven University), AFSCME Local 2834 (Lock Haven), IBEW Local 812, headquartered in Williamsport, and the Northern Tier Labor Council representing AFL-CIO affiliates in Clinton, Lycoming, Tioga, and Bradford counties.
So why are they supporting Rick? It's because they know that he has been fighting for working people here in the Fifth District for his entire career in public service. They know that he is tired of seeing jobs shipped overseas because of unfair trade deals. They know he wants to stop the tax breaks for companies that are leaving America and start supporting the companies that are creating job sustaining jobs here at home. They know he will fight to create good, high-paying, green-collar jobs here in the Fifth District using the natural resources we have right in our own backyard. And they know he will fight for universal healthcare and will endorse H.R. 676 once he is elected.
The primary is fast approaching and this added boost is certainly more than welcome. For anyone reading this who lives in the Fifth District, don't forget to come out and vote on April 22nd. And if you know anyone who lives in the Fifth, make sure they vote on the 22nd as well. As Democrats, we all know that every vote counts (or at least it should, I'm looking at you Florida). So make sure to do your part on Tuesday and come out to support Rick Vilello!
Update: So apparently some people think this is an old endorsement that we're just trying to fool people with. I figured I'd put a little more proof behind this than just my word on the subject. Here's a picture of the letter that accompanied a copy of the postcard getting sent out to all of the local's membership. I don't have a scanned copy of the postcard yet, but I'll see what I can do.
