I'm working with Wake-Up Wal-Mart, and I want to share this story with you (which I also shared at MyDD):
It isn't enough that they chased a brain-damaged former employee through the courts for the contents of the family's bank account.
It isn't enough that they're pretending to go green even as their CEO Lee Scott has been caught on tape admitting they're doing nothing of the kind.
It isn't enough that they acquire fully 3/4 of their goods from Chinese sweat shops as the American economy recedes below the horizon.
No: the Bentonville Behemoth has to verbally abuse its most vulnerable customers too. Full story after the jump.
From a CBS affiliate in Yakima, Washington:
"She had some questions about her medication and all she was really being told was to sign off on a consultation," James said.
She also claims, that's when one of the pharmacists went too far.
"He said to us, why don't you get a job and stop laying around all day, living off the government and us people," James explained.
Rosemary says the pharmacist was picking on them because her mom's on Medicare.
She says the comment was made out loud in front of other shoppers, and she believes it was used to embarrass her and her mother.
"Nothing that anyone could say to a pharmacist would justify that remark," James said.
...
The Department of Health told Action News on the phone, they just got Rosemary's complaint and they plan on taking it to the board this week.
Just to be clear: we're talking about a woman who is local to the area, who is dependent on Medicare, who relied on Wal-Mart's pharmacy service, who was dependent upon the services Wal-Mart purports to provide, who was a loyal Wal-Mart customer.
But the Bentonville Behemoth can't help itself: when it sees someone defenseless, it's just got to go for the kill.
You stay classy, Wal-Mart!
