Ok, so you ask a group of 5 year olds, "Which do you like better? Ice Cream or Candy?" It’s a pretty tight race, I imagine. Both ice cream and candy have a lot going for them. Let’s just say that it comes out at something like, oh, I don’t know, 55% to 45% for Ice Cream.
....
Now, imagine you’re in the, say, Liver business. Do you look at the polls and get all excited thinking, "AWESOME!!! In a head to head competition against Candy, I’m going to KICK SOME INTERNAL ORGAN ASS!!!"
Do you then jump around and taunt, "Candy’s a looooser, Candy’s a looooser!"?
Does the media get all sanctimonious about how Candy should totally not be in a race against Liver because there’s NO WAY Candy can beat Liver? I mean, c’mon, if Candy can’t beat Ice Cream – say, like in a place like Pennsylvania - how on EARTH can it beat Liver?
Am I missing something? Is this actually rocket science? Are we not teaching elementary logic in Journalism school anymore? With all the other bullshit out there, can we just put this one to rest? Can't we just fess up and say, "Losing a state in the primary to another Democrat has no predictive value about that state in the general election." Please?

And now, the obligatory poll...
