On a conference call today, Clinton advisors revealed their new strategy to retake control of the campaign and put Clinton back on her inevitable march to victory.
Mark Penn was positively gleeful in describing the ingenious new plan. While Obama and the media focus exclusively on the May 6th primaries in Indiana and North Carolina, Clinton is planning a surprise victory on the May 3rd battleground of Guam.
The Clinton campaign has begun pouring resources into Guam, with huge media buys and plans to open 20 campaign offices with paid staff. But the big announcement was that Clinton is flying to Guam tomorrow for a 5-day "Gone to Guam" bus tour. Penn cited polls giving Clinton a massive lead and predicted that the new campaign will ensure a crushing defeat of Obama. The campaign is boldly forecasting that Clinton will win all 4 pledged delegates. Further, the campaign confidently predicts that this huge victory would secure all three of Guam's remaining uncommitted superdelegates.
Mark Penn described the new math. The 7 delegate pickup, he noted, will add a crucial 70% boost to her big win in PA. He compared it to a one-two punch that will put Obama on the ropes.
Then Wolfson, in what seemed to be an attempt to one-up Penn, further discussed the magnitude of Guam landslide win. He pointed out that the 7 delegate gain will be more than triple Clinton's pickup from her big victories in the March 5th firewall states, Ohio and Texas, where her crushing 2 delegate victory left the Obama campaign reeling.
