Sometimes we have to give credit where credit is due and the Bush girls deserve some love from progressive bloggers despite their father. For the Clinton girl, you be the judge.
Jenna on McCain: I may not support McCain
Watching Larry King the other night had been diaried here, I was amazed to see Jenna Bush hedge her support for John McCain with her mother, the wife of the leader of the Republican Party on her side.
In Republican circles, this could constitute a form of sacrilege.
Speaking on Larry King Live last night, first daughter Jenna Bush, who appeared alongside first lady Laura Bush, confessed that she's not sure if she'll vote for the presumptive Republican nominee for president, Sen. John McCain, and even left open the possibility that she'd support either Sen. Barack Obama or Sen. Hillary Clinton
The Bush Girls on Public Service: Public School Teacher and in South Africa and Latin America and also working with AIDS/HIV children
Jenna Bush , the nation's most famous public-school teacher, is skipping the country and bidding a happy adios to the young-Washington social scene she once ruled. Uh-oh, what do we do NOW? Friends say that the blond, younger-by-minutes First Twin has been quietly making plans over recent months to leave D.C. for a teaching job in Latin America, most likely around the end of summer.
The other First Twin, Barbara, graduated from Yale University with a degree in humanities. She lives in Greenwich Village and works with a Smithsonian museum in New York, the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum.
Before that she worked with patients with Aids-related diseases in Tanzania, South Africa and Botswana.
Jenna Bush worked for UNICEF in four countries in Latin America and the Caribbean and told the world the story of the forgotten, kids living in the shaddow without hope. I bet these kids lives will never be the same because of Jenna Bush Click for the Video
She was so moved by Ana's story that she wrote a book based onher life..
"I didn't go to Latin America thinking, 'I'm gonna write a book. This is what I'm gonna do.' I went there to work for UNICEF and to learn. But as my job for UNICEF was to document the lives of kids living in exclusion, I wanted to make them more than statistics. So I would take the statistic and write their historias de vitas — the stories of their lives — and then I met Ana. Through all the kids, I thought, 'This could be more, there should be something more,'" Bush said.
"Although she was orphaned at a young age and was born with HIV/AIDS and suffered abuse in her home ... and she's a teenage mother ... she sees her life as perfect," Bush said. "She sees her life as the way, you know, God made it for her, and she never complains. She dances."
And Now Chelsea Clinton.....
Chelsea Clinton on Public Service: Zero. Oh I forgot she wants her mother to be President because the Democrats who it to them.
Chelsea Clinton on John McCain: Agrees with mother that John McCain has met the Commander in Chief threshold and Obama has not.
Instead of public service Chelsea Clinton on raking it in with the best of them - Hedge Fund, the people that brought us the prime loan. Chelsea Clinton joins New York hedge fund.
Former first daughter Chelsea Clinton has joined Avenue Capital Group, a $12 billion hedge fund manager whose founder has contributed to many Democratic Party campaigns, a person familiar with the matter said Friday.
Clinton, 26, the only child of former President Bill Clinton and U.S. Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton, has taken a post at the New York-based fund manager in an undisclosed capacity, the source said.
Clinton, who graduated from Stanford University in 2001 and studied philosophy at Oxford University, most recently worked at consultants McKinsey & Co. from 2003.
Even though there is nothing wrong with Chelsea Clinton's choices; it is amazing that the while the daughter of a democratic president is making a killing with in the Hedge Fund business, the children of the most conservative (worst) US President are doing enormous public service and progressive work around the world.
The idea that the Bill Clinton and his family represent our progressive values should be put to rest once and for all because they don’t. The Shrub may have raised good children after all.
