Dear fellow progressives:
May I please have a moment of your time to tell you about an exciting Congressional race in Florida?
I'm Faye Armitage in Fruit Cove, FL, and I'm running to represent Florida's 7th Congressional District, which stretches in six counties, from the Jacksonville/Duval County line to Orlando. I've already driven some 18,000 miles and worn out two pairs of shoes getting nearly 6,000 petitions signed, meeting voters who tell me they're ready for change, from City Hall to the White House to Congress.
Republicans thought they had successfully gerrymandered Florida's Seventh Congrssional District, but Charlie Cook's rating and other campaign polls show a Democrat can win here, which would also help the entire Democratic ticket in Northeast Florida.
Who Is John Mica?
The Florida Seventh is currently represented by eight-term arch- authoritarian right- winger Congressman John Mica, ranking member of the House Transportation Committee and the only Florida Congressperson who supports offshore oil drilling off Florida's coast.
Mica was reported in the Washington Post for leaving a meeting in a huff in 2007 because his chair wasn't fancy enough to his refined tastes.
Mica's deplorable antics such as calling President Clinton "a little booger," and comparing welfare recipients to alligators ("don't feed the alligators), pale in comparison to his support for corporate welfare, including goverment contracting earmarks for his campaign contributors, as reported in the St. Augustine Record.
Ex- lobbyist Mica got rich buying government monopolies (cell phone franchises) through controversial auctions. Mica favors the billionaires and taunts working people, opposing the minimum wage in 2007 (when 72% of Floridians raised our minimum wage by constitutional amendment in 2004. Mica's daughter is a lobbyist for powerful special interest, whom Mica advances in Congress.
Mica supports offshore oil drilling -- Florida's only Congressman to so threaten our tourist economy and environment. Florida (which has no oil refineries) treasures our tourist economy, which depends on clean beaches. Anti- environmental Mica has an astonishing low 5% League of Conservation Voters (LCV) rating.
It's time for John Mica to go. I know that, with your help, I can beat Mica in November.

I'm an economist, soccer mom of five and stem cell research advocate. My own son's soccer accident, medical malpractice and resulting paralysis made me an activist, testifying and speaking out for putting people first.
I support single-payer national health insurance, investigating and abolishing antitrust immunities for megacorporations, and ending government subsidies and favoritism toward billionaires.
I agree with former President Jimmy Carter that our tax system is a "disgrace to the human race." As Berkshire Hathaway CEO Warren Buffett has said, the billionaire's secretary pays a higher percentage of taxes than her boss, the billionaire.
Our economy is suffering from the sequelae of years of bad policies favoring megabillionaires, whom Rep. John Mica empowers with his votes.
The forces of status quo want Mica re-elected to a ninth term, but Mica
is vulnerable. You can see and smell the fear.
The spirit of Katherine Harris is alive in Florida's Secretary of State and election offices. That's why I've filed complaints against the Florida electoral machine politicians. Based on bad, flip-flopping legal advice from the Assistant General Counsel in Republican Florida Secretary of State Kurt Browning's office, several county supervisors of election impoperly refused to process hundreds of my timely- filed nominating petitions, forcing me to spend $9,200 in campaign funds to buy my way onto the ballot, instead of being listed for free by virtue of nearly 6,000 petitions.
Remember the Florida election debacle of 2000 and how our presidential election was stolen? Remember Bush v. Gore. Remember Armitage v. Ertel. For more information, please see my website:

For the sake of the peace and dignity of a free people, our country needs "tough love".
Those who treasure equality, liberty and justice for all must stand together,....... Together, we can win. Won't you please help beat John Mica by sending a campaign contribution for my Faye for Congress campaign today?
