I'm new here, so I'm not sure if this is OK, but at TPM cafe this diarist asked to have this posed on kos.
So I thought I would oblige.
He is looking to see if anyone has the ability to do voice verification on the "Hamas Endorsement" of Obama.
UPDATE: Can anyone tell me how to send this to the Obama Campaign?
Hamas endorsement of Obama is Fabricated
By politicsjunkie - April 27, 2008, 4:23PM
Now that McCain has publicly
himself accused Obama of being loved by Hamas, I figured I should at
least check out the clip. I looked up the audio, and saw that the
interview was conducted by WABC by the oh so conservative John
Batchelor and the very very conservative Aaron Klein. For those of you
that don't know who Klein is,
he's a "journalist" at WorldNetDaily (a terrible paper) was the
individual who claimed to have interviewed the Al-Aqsa Brigaid and said
they supported for John Kerry president. He also made a similar claim about Hillary Clinton earlier in the primaries
but moved to Obama once he became the front runner. All in all,
apparently Klein is a magnet for terrorists looking to tell him their
opinions on US presidential elections. However, in all the previous
circumstances, he just asserted the claim in print, which is why it
never got any real traction in the campaign. With Obama, it looks like
he tried something different, to have a radio interview to convince
everyone that its real. But why would a top Hamas official choose to
do an interview with a notoriously horrible journalist from Israel??
Anyhow, I checked out the audio interview
that Klein had with Ahmed Yousef, the political advisor to the leader
of Hamas. I then decided to find some audio clips from more reputable
sources and to my ear, the individuals voices are distinctively
different, and have different speaking styles. I found four clips on
NPR. One, Two, Three, and Four. Unfortunately only a minute of him talking in each clip.
I couldn't find anything online questioning the validity of this, but it seems highly suspect. Anyhow,
I wish I could analyze the voices to see if they match up, but I figure
someone reading might know how to verify the authenticity of the
interview. Klein has done this too many times but never left evidence
of fabrication, this might have been his mistake by trying to get some
authenticity.
