Okay people, listen up. Pay very close attention; this is important.
You need to THINK before you act.
Think about it. The documentary War Room has been out there on VHS and DVD for well over a decade, and people have been trying their damnedest to dig up any scrap of dirt they could on the Clintons the entire time. How likely is it that, if Mickey Kantor had actually said what it's claimed that he said, it would have gone unnoticed until just a few days before a critical primary election in Indiana?
Does that even come close to passing the smell test?
Now compare it to how likely it is that the subtitles are misleading. The audio isn't clear, and it's a well-known effect of subtitles that if your ears can't make out something, your brain will fill in the gaps with what it expects to hear.
Which is more likely?
If you'd bothered to think before pushing this video with everything you had, the answer would have been clear. Unfortunately, you didn't. It got out there into the media, which you wanted, but unfortunately, the story isn't going to be the story you wanted.
No, the story is going to be how Obama supporters pushed a dishonest and unfair attack to try to smear Hillary Clinton by association.
Voters aren't going to like that. Even though neither he nor his campaign had anything to do with this video, this is going to blow back on Obama. It is going to cost him votes in Indiana. It might even do some damage in North Carolina, too.
And it's your fault.
Just how bad the damage will be depends on how much play this story gets. But it could easily cost Obama any chance he might have had in Indiana. Obama is especially vulnerable to charges of dirty politics because of his campaign's theme and message.
It's too late to undo that damage, but Obama supporters, I implore you, in the future, please think before you act. And realize that if some claim about an opponent seems particularly outrageous or damaging, that means you need to think about it more before trying to push it, not less.
Because your actions can do more damage to your own candidate than you realize.
