Ok. I'll admit it I am just here to rip off someone else's fine work.
On April 27th, when this fine diary was published, I was at my son's tournament, so I missed it.
As dengre sez:
In making connections to the Abramoff Scandal, the most tainted funds—the dirtiest money—would come from one of two sources:
1. A direct donation from Jack Abramoff, his wife Pam, or his inner circle
2. A direct donation from the Tan Family operating out of Hong Kong and the Mariana Islands.
Who are the Tan family? Well, to quote dengre again
...Money from the Tan Family is worse than money from Jack Abramoff.
Tan Family money is cash directly tied to crimes against humanity. It is money earned off of exploitation and theft of labor. It is money made off of human trafficking. It is the definition of "dirty cash".
Today we got the beeeg event! "Guamania! The primary!" and did anyone hear a peep of questioning yet to Hillary on her shady relations to the Tan Family, via Guam?
Stuff like :
- You stopped in Guam to kick off a half-million dollar donation fest from high-rollers in 1995 - What do you have to say about suggestions that the gigantic fund-raising effort had something to do with an about-face Bill's administration made about Guam a few weeks later -when he turned around to support the Tan Family's position?
- Why are you the only Democrat to take money (almost 17k) from the Tan family ("slavelords" of the Marianas Islands)?
- Are you comfortable being in the company of Richard Pombo, Tom Delay, Jack Abramhoff and "Crazy Bob Schaffer" in your support of the Tans?
- Terry McAuliffe was personally given papers detailing your donations from the Tan family, and asking you to return those donations. Why have you never responded?
Here's a little profile of Tan from dengre
Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton has accepted campaign contributions from a Saipan garment-industry tycoon, sometimes described as a sweatshop operator, whose ties to disgraced lobbyist Jack Abramoff have been part of the lobbying scandal investigation.
For years, Willie Tan, who is a naturalized U.S. citizen, has played a central role in business and politics in the Northern Mariana Islands. His chief interest has been in protecting his garment factories, which pay sub-minimum wages, from U.S. labor laws. In 1992, Tan's businesses were cited as sweatshops by the Labor Department, and Tan was forced to give $9 million in back wages and damages to workers. As part of his effort to steer clear of further American regulation, Tan hired Jack Abramoff.
Hillary can not claim ignorance of the Tan family's role in maintaining slavery conditions (including forced abortions) in their sweatshops. - Her own party has been bitching about this since 1994.
This diary details the many links between Hillary and the Tan family.
- Her acceptance of $17,000 from them in 2005 to her senate campaign - George W. Bush is the only politician to whom they have ever donated more.
- Hillary was one of a handful of senators not to vote to improve near-slavery working conditions under the Tans in the Marianas Islands. (Obama and McCain didn't vote either - but then they didn't take the dirty dough.)
- Why is her good pal Richard Helfenbein's son working on her campaign? (Helfenbien is the head of a Tan company which outsources US textile jobs offshore - and his family has donated $16,000 to Hillary's presidential campaign.
- What about that half a mill plus that she raised in 1995 from a short trip to Guam - and the resulting about face by ol' Bill...
