We’ve know it for some time now, but at long last the media is finally catching on: Barack Obama will be the 2008 Democratic Candidate for President. From today forward, we’ve got our sights set on beating John McCain and sending a Democrat back to the White House.
What better way to kick things off than to donate to Obama now?
At long last, the media narrative has shifted towards what the reality-based community has been well aware of for weeks. In The New York Times today, the article "Pundits Declare the Race Over" described the moment on MSNBC last night when Tim Russert stated the obvious:
The moment came shortly after midnight Eastern time, captured in a devastatingly declarative statement from Tim Russert of NBC News: "We now know who the Democratic nominee’s going to be, and no one’s going to dispute it," he said on MSNBC. "Those closest to her will give her a hard-headed analysis, and if they lay it all out, they’ll say: ‘What is the rationale? What do we say to the undeclared super delegates tomorrow? Why do we tell them you’re staying in the race?’ And tonight, there’s no good answer for that."
The Today Show picked up on the story this morning. For some extended analysis, you can watch it here.
This makes our job clear: On to The General! On to Beating McCain!
We can do plenty of things to help that effort, but the easiest one to do right now is donating to Barack Obama. Granted, what we donate now can still be used for the primary, of course, but for those of us who won’t max out, our money can be rolled over into the general election fund. Let's build the base of support on which Obama can lean as we finally look towards November.
I’m in for $25 this afternoon. How about you?
How much do you want to beat John McCain?
