I think I'm right - on just about everything. Heck, I know I'm right. Just like you. Except I really am right.
I know I was right to support John Edwards.
And when John Edwards dropped out, I was sad and disillusioned, like all the "right" people were. Only those who supported John Edwards and were then disillusioned had the right attitude.
And I was right to then decide Obama was the best choice after Edwards.
I was right to be utterly disgusted with Hillary's staying in the race even after it was obvious she couldn't win it.
I was right to agree with the wisdom that came after being disgusted that maybe her staying in the race might actually be a good thing, even if I (rightly) found her tactics repulsive.
I was right to hold the opinion that I would never vote for her if she became the nominee with a coup by superdelegate.
I was right to suggest I would even vote for Nader instead.
Because I was right about everything, I had to have been right to reach the conclusion that, even though I know either a Democrat or a Republican will be President, and I cannot stand the thought of four more years of a Republican President, my right thinking had led me to deciding I would not support the Democratic nominee if it wasn't the one I felt deserved it.
And now, Hillary supporters should rally around Obama, at least when he officially becomes the Democratic nominee. Right?
Wrong.
I said I would never vote for Hillary, because I knew I was right, and she was wrong. How can I ask someone who also "knows" they're right to vote for Obama now, when I said I wouldn't vote for her? Isn't that, like, hypocritical?
Hillary supporters - you have every right to stay home in November, or even vote for Nader. Just please... don't.
Update: To clarify, in no way do I think I'm right any more that anyone else thinks they're right. That's my point. Everyone out there think they're right. My thinking led me to saying I wouldn't vote for the Democratic nominee if it was Hillary, so it's hypocritical for me, and people like me, to turn around and tell Hillary supporters they have to vote for Obama because he is the Democratic nominee.
