I've seen more than enough posts bashing those "older" HRC supporters.
My Mother was born in 1938. She was a child during WWII. She was a white woman and she married my black father in 1958. Many of her family members turned their backs on her. In the late 60's, my Mother joined the feminist movement.
Let me be perfectly clear. There was no such thing as equal pay for women in those days. A close friend of hers was beat by her husband in an era when such things were not considered to be a crime. It was a husband's right. A married woman could not get a loan. This was still a time when jobs were advertised specifically for Men or for Women. I could go on and on.
My Mother and her somewhat meteoric rise to senior management at more than one large corporation was clearly special. She helped to start the early networking organization in New York which was designed specifically for professional women during the era when business clubs were still exclusively for men. This was before "networking" became a common term.
My Mother IS special. She was a trail blazer who fought hard for the things that young women today take for granted. I have no doubt that her greatest dream and hope was that a woman would some day be President.
When you make fun of these women, when you ask "what kind of cult" they belong to, you are making fun of my Mother. My Mother is one of the kindest and most generous people that you could ever meet and when the time comes for her to pull the lever on election day, she will vote for the democratic candidate...whoever that is.
The things that you take for granted? Those older Hillary cultists fought for them. They deserve respect. My Mother deserve respect.
[Update: I knew when I started this diary that some people would assume that I was a Clinton supporter and bash me for it. I'm not a Clinton supporter. I can't stand her. Secondly, many of the more literal are saying "Stop making this personal" because they missed the point. There is an entire generation of women LIKE MY MOTHER, AND MY (BLACK) FATHER (this diary is not about him) who fought for the rights that we take for granted today. They deserve respect. So the down-shot is this: No. I didn't get all mad because you called my Momma a cultist. I just want to remind you that these are people that deserve our respect and our thanks.
Happy Mothers day to all the Moms, regardless of who you support and thank you to all of the Moms out there who fought for the rights that we women have today.]
