"The protracted, depraved and dishonorable history of racism within American society has been meticulously documented. From the countless lynching's of innocent Black men, women, and children, to faulty Jim Crow legislation; to the more contemporary despicable events of comedian Michael Richards, and Don Imus echoing racial expletives - to innumerable young unarmed black men being gunned down by the NYPD; it is painfully evident that the matter of racism within American society cannot continually be ignored or swept under our nations social rug any longer".
The CAMPAIGN TO: "REMOVE THE VEIL"
http://www.myspace.com/...
The manipulation of race and racism as a socioeconomic and political instrument has been strategically applied to particular segments of our society for far too long, and has morphed into an insidious intolerance that has navigated itself across all cultural lines. It is time that "We the people" of the United States of America judiciously deal with the matter of racism straightforwardly.
One of the fundamental ways to accomplish this endeavor is to incorporate a comprehensive study of racism into the educational system of our nation as general education and make it a prerequisite for graduation. From K-12 to the university academic systems; a comprehensive study on the origins, methodology, and practices of racism as a core curriculum remains instrumental to the betterment of our nation, and may perhaps invoke a revolutionary change in the minds of many.
Moreover, if the youth are truly our future, it is imperative that we begin to educate our future leaders on this extremely self-destructive and highly problematic social and psychological illness, by incorporating the who, why and where of racism into their daily curriculum.
So therefore, I respectfully seek your support in the campaign to introduce the study of racism into the academic curriculum within the California educational system; with the expressed intent on making this a nationwide practice within the American educational system.
We are seeking lawyers, educators, authors, filmmakers, legislators, entertainers, intellectuals, clergy, spiritual leaders and all others to assist us with the success of this campaign.
Please correspond by email with your support to: twentyfirstcentury_writer@yahoo.com. Thank you!
Respectfully, M. Quinn
