Granted this happened a long time ago In September of 2000, when Liebermann played the role of a democrat as Al Gores VP.
And you would think the GOP would have "vetted" the guy that is always running around with their partys savior John McCain. Well it looks like Liebermann has a lot of explaining to do, was he wrong to say that he would be willing to personally meet with Minister Farrakhan? oh and here are some juicy quotes below.

Asked if he was willing to meet Farrakhan, Lieberman told the radio network: "I am very open to that."
"Minister Farrakhan has said a few things, including earlier in the campaign, that I thought were just not informed but, you know, I have respect for him and I have respect for the Muslim community generally," Lieberman said.
"I'd be open to sitting and talking to Minister Farrakhan. It hasn't sort of come together yet but I look forward to it," he added. "This is a time to try to knit the country together more and to make us, as (Vice President) Al Gore always says, the more perfect union that our founders dreamed of."
Asked if he would like to meet before the "Million Family March," Lieberman said: "I'd like to do that. I think that's a great idea.
"I look at anything that anybody does to get people to register and to vote (as) really at the heart of what the democracy is about," he added. "So I admire what Minister Farrakhan is doing there."
Strikingly Liebermann this days does not sound very much like the kind of bridge building politician, a role he played very well as Al Gores VP, same kind of politics that Barack Obama now has wholeheartedly embraced, to bring a country together not on what divides us but on what unites us all, a common sense of humanity and the will to see our dreams come true as a nation.
To me it looks like the now Co-Pilot of the "Straight Talk Express" has some explaining to do. Was he right then when he believed talking and trying to bridge divides was a better way to achieve our goals as a nation or does he stand by his current view of the world, in which carpet bombing of our "enemies" is the only way to go.
I hope the MSM put his feet to the fire... Not really, I already lost hope that they will do the right thing.
