Congratulations to Travis Childers for winning a hard fought battle in Mississipi.
Everyone following that race were appallled at the tactics used by the NRCC and the local GOP.

This race had national implications in the sense that Davis used Obama and race as a sledge hammer against Childers. This tactic failed in Lousiana and now in Mississipi.
Acoording to the AP:

The race has attracted national attention, with Vice President Dick Cheney campaigning for Davis on Monday, and Davis running ads trying to tie Childers to Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi.
The republicans need to be careful how they handle race in this election. The voters are increasingly seeming to be more interested in issues and will not go for traditional republican wedge issues.
Politico underscores that point
The results amount to a rebuke of the Republican strategy of trying nationalize the race by tying Childers to Sen. Barack Obama and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi. Obama held low approval ratings in the district, but the nearly $2 million that GOP groups poured into northern Mississippi failed to make the race a referendum on the national political landscape.
