After listening to Barack Obama's speech I was touched by his message of power of the people and specifically all Democratic ideals that can drive this country to a new set of change. He talked about that it is not about John or Barack or Hillary it is about each of us who will ultimately change this country...
No matter who you supported in the beginning, who you are supporting now, the question is can we all rise up as Americans and Kossacks to live the Barack Obama message of unity and people powered change. That change requires hard work and healing new and old wounds from all Democrats, Independents and even like-minded Republicans who are tired of the status quo and want real change.
As I have predicted for weeks and even to some of you months, this primary will come to a natural end and we will come together, Barack Supporters, John Supporters and even Hillary Supporters to defeat the continuation of the GWB policies of "No". Can we get past our ideological differences to support common goals or are we going to divide ourselves between Progressives, Moderates, Conservatives, DINOs, DLCers, Hillabots, Obamacrats, and even disaffected 3rd party leaners?
As we think about what we are blogging about and writing for, we need to all remember the world is watching not Barack Obama but what we as Net Roots are saying. Are we saying that the administration has a litmus test for progressives only or are we saying we have principles of change and if you want that change you are welcome no matter what your background is, no matter what primary candidate you supported.
As we go forward as proud participants in this grand change opportunity, lets work together to show the world how we can be for positive change. When the RedState trolls come over here and doubt us we welcome them to help with the change, we recognize that they are part of the people who are afraid of change and are vested in the status quo. That means that we recognize that change is not about us, them, or this candidate or that candidate but about all Americans who can come together and change this country for the next 100 years.
Are we going to have disagreements, sure. Are there going to be hard policy choices and compromises along the way, you bet there will be, but for every hour and every dollar and every minute we pour our hearts into comming together for change across this country in every state for every Senate race and every House seat, we will be providing one more vote for change to make a difference. We may not win every race or every battle, but the message will be clear even for the congressional candidates who beat our candidates, they can either be part of change or get move out of the way.
I believe our party was blessed with so many great candidates for POTUS, they all contributed in their own way to where we are today. We are on the verge of historical change with a historical movement of force many of us have not seen in our lifetimes. I hope we can all embrace the unity and change that Barack and John spoke about tonight so eloquently.
In short, are we going to get back to our DKos roots of electing Democrats and changing the country one lurker/blogger at a time? As Kos says best:
This is a Democratic blog, a partisan blog. One that recognizes that Democrats run from left to right on the ideological spectrum, and yet we're all still in this fight together. We happily embrace centrists like NDN's Simon Rosenberg and Howard Dean, conservatives like Martin Frost and Brad Carson, and liberals like John Kerry and Barack Obama. Liberal? Yeah, we're around here and we're proud. But it's not a liberal blog. It's a Democratic blog with one goal in mind: electoral victory. And since we haven't gotten any of that from the current crew, we're one more thing: a reform blog. The battle for the party is not an ideological battle. It's one between establishment and anti-establishment factions. And as I've said a million times, the status quo is untenable
We need all of the people who look up to these factions within our party in order to get the kind of massive mandate at the ballot box necessary to get the change that Barack needs our help achieving.
Can We Do It...YES WE CAN
Peace...Go Democrats!!! (All of them who are nominated)
