It seems like the Dems have this election in the bag. The overt corruption of this administration has soured even the most ardent conservatives, all except the ballwashers Limbaugh and Hannity, or so it would seem. That will leave the Dems in a position to change things, but my fear is that it will result in more of the same bullshit, primarily because of the fact that they know who butters their bread.
You can see it everywhere. If Politicians like Rockerfeller are willing to stick their necks our for FISA just to keep in the good graces of the Telecom industry, what chance do we have of fighting the Healthcare, pharma, oil and all the rest that are willing to rape our country and its citizens for profit?
Even if the scenario is such that we win a good majority and Obama gets elected, what are our chances? Not good, I believe.
Even as things are, I'm not too happy with Obama's health plan. And the rethugs are gearing up for such a fight on healthcare that whatever we end up with will be sure to fall far short of National Health Insurance. All of the Major Players, including John McSame, are prepping to fight the "Commie Health Plan" war with abandon. And unlike our fight in Iraq, they will fight with real zeal that is sure to water down anything we propose.
Bush has fucked up the war in such a way that we are sure to spend a great amount of time and effort just getting ourselves extricated from it, and in the process I think we are sure to get our noses bloodied. They will fight tooth and nail every proposal Obama makes, and in the true "Clinton attack mode" some of the shit will stick.
But we, the people, have to keep their feet to the fire somehow. We cant have things stay the way they have been, with Reid and Pelosi offering plans to defund the war and then have those plans morph into bills that do absolutely nothing. It makes us look more weak and ineffectual than we really are. And I do question the motives of these lawmakers-whose interests do they really have at heart, the peoples or the lobbyists?
It will be all well and good if we win this November, but let us never accept mediocrity from the guys that take over the reigns for us. There has to be reform of the Campaign finance laws. We have to get rid of the Lobbyists. The War must end, Healthcare must become universal, and People, not Corporations, must be the major influence in this Democracy. I feel(and I bet a lot of you feel the same), that this may be our last chance to have real change.
