We have so many insightful and powerful diaries written here at Daily Kos. Our diaries inform, inflame, impassion, and even entertain. We Kossacks have strong voices and an even stronger will to be the change we wish to see in this country.
One of the richest, and perhaps most under-appreciated, areas of thought come in the form of comments attached to these diaries.
Here at Top Comments we strive to recognize and promote the talent of this community by highlighting outstanding comments found throughout the day by the diarist, and through nominations at made at TopComments at gmail dot com by your fellow Kossacks.
These nominations are subjective, and certainly not complete (as no one can read the complete site on a daily basis!). But we hope they will serve to shine a light where deserved, and to give the reader a good starting point in finding conversation on the site.

Hey, all. I was taken down by tonsillitis this past week, so I’ve got little to report other than that the large number of prescription medications I have taken have a.) broken my fever, b.) decreased the large size of my left tonsil, and c.) largely diminished the pain in my throat. It’s good that this is a blog, however, because I have literally lost my voice. What remnants I had were taken by yelling at people to register to vote. I got 24 new voters, so it was worth it.
But that’s another story.
Since I’ve got nothin’, here’s a funny SNL skit from this past season. So sue me, I find it hiLAAAAARious.
Believe in your dreams, indeed.

Everyone likes a happy news story. I saw this story in the New York Times a few weeks back. In short, violinist leaves priceless Stradivarious in cab on way back from Newark Airport. Cab driver returns violin. Violinist plays outdoor concert for all cabbies at Newark Airport. Really neat story!
Afterward, the virtuoso was mobbed by drivers seeking his autograph on dollar bills, napkins and cab receipts.
"It was so pleasing to see people dancing — that never happens," said Mr. Quint, 34, a Grammy-nominated classical violinist. "These people, they work so hard, I doubt they get a chance to get out to Carnegie Hall or Lincoln Center."
So Mr. Quint took Carnegie Hall to them, in a mini-concert that was his way of expressing a simple sentiment: Thank you.
I really like the slideshow of the concert.

Last but not least... those of you who read my Top Comments on April 27 may recall that I was volunteering for Randi Shade, a candidate for Austin City Council. Good News: she won!!! In fact, Randi won in a landslide, with 64% of the vote in a three-way race. Congrats, Randi! You will do our city proud.

On to the Top Comments!
From Yirmiyahu:
This entire thread by aaraujo, Jimdotz, citizenx, and dotster.
From A Seigel:
Some great comments came in my discussion of George Will, Newsweek editors, and "just wondering" about idiocy. To start with, not as a surprise to me, Shpilk wrote a rephrasing of the challenge, the question, and the issue that should be read by everyone in the nation. ObamaManiac2008 explains why I can never win an argument with a denier. SC Kitty quotes from a study providing information on the payoff from moving toward a clean energy economy.
Also, RudiB tells us what happens when Obama and McCain jump out of an airplane. And, AtlantaJan brought something apropos of nothing to the table that made me laugh, and sigh.
From samdobermann:
ChristieKeith has an absolutely wonderful comment. Truly, a must-read.
Isara has a scary idea for education reform.
From sardonyx:
In a comment found too late for last night's diary, Liberal Thinking says smart beats strong every time.
From JeffLieber's diary "...which I suppose would include myself.", Jeff introduces a new word into the Daily Kos lexicon as part of his tip jar, and a very funny (and long) thread is born. Then, in the next thread, Dallasdoc notes a Jeff joke about Tweety, and Jeff's response almost causes a physical reaction from Dallasdoc, the nature of which is discussed by AnotherMassachusettsLiberal, among others, as the thread descends.
Top Mojo by brillig! Thanks!
