The explosive comments by Hillary Clinton today lead me to a small Time Blog piece that showed Hillary had made the RFK comment in the past. A note on the Time Blog post pointed out that her defense that it was all about races lasting until June is inaccurate in her husband's case. A New York Times article proves that the conventional wisdom was that Bill Clinton had a clear path to the nomination in March. The interesting part is Paul Tsongas' reason for dropping out. Follow me to see why Hillary is double-classless today...
Mr. Tsongas announced his departure at a news conference in Boston, where he said his campaign did not have enough money to continue. His move leaves only former Gov. Edmund G. Brown Jr. of California to compete with Mr. Clinton in the remaining primaries and caucuses in 21 states.
Without adequate money to win, Mr. Tsongas said, "the alternative was to play the role of spoiler." 'That Is Not Worthy'
"That is not what I'm about," he continued. "That is not worthy. I did not survive my ordeals in order to be the agent of the re-election of George Bush."
So, we now know that Hillary didn't have the money to continue to compete. She is $20 million, $30 million in the red. So, without the money to compete and no clear path to victory, what is she? A spoiler.
Oh, and "not worthy" in the words of Paul Tsongas.
