This afternoon, a shocking and saddening video of a statement by Hillary Clinton surfaced that is totally unacceptable.
This afternoon I sent a letter to Senator Tom Harkin of Iowa. The text of the letter is below the fold.
Senator Harkin,
As a longtime supporter, and as a political friend, I urge you to announce your support for Barack Obama now. I understand the desire of senior party leaders to allow Mrs. Clinton the space to come to a decision on her own, but she is using that space to fan the flames of division in the Democratic Party, first by specifically playing to race in a primary that will have no affect on the outcome, and now by using the Robert Kennedy assassination as part of an argument for her campaign to continue.
This last statement demands action from the senior members of the party, including you; and for the remaining undeclared superdelegates, as well (also you).
If Senator Clinton is allowed to continue her now-quixotic campaign, the next step will be an attempt to force the convention to nominate her for Vice-President, or some similar convention-splitting ploy.
Please step forward, with all your compassion and all of your considerable skill, to lead Senator Clinton offstage, for her good, and the good of our presumptive nominee and the party.
Thank you.
I urge every Kossack to contact superdelegates they personally know with a similar message of your own.
This madness must end now.
